I originally trained as a General Nurse, later specialising in Intensive Care Nursing. In 1984, I qualified and worked as a Midwife at St George’s Hospital in London , before becoming a Community Midwifery Sister. Subsequently, I became a Hospital Midwifery Sister at Kings College Hospital before my final job in the NHS as a Senior Midwife.
I became an Independent Midwife in 1990, and working with a colleague founded the UK’s first private Birth Centre in London.
I am originally from East Sussex and moved back to Brighton in 1995 , working there as an Independent Midwife until the present day.
I am experienced in caring for women with high risk pregnancies in hospital and dealing with emergencies at home, although my passion and expertise over the years is in homebirth.
In 1988 I gained a BA (Hons) in Health Studies (Applied Social Studies)
