Most of my clients choose to give birth at home and we are in regular telephone contact at the beginning and in the early stages of labour.
Once you are in established labour, I would come to your home, regularly monitoring the progress of labour and mother and baby’s condition.
I am experienced in homebirth in or out of water and set no arbitrary time limits in first or second stages of labour. Third stage of labour is usually physiological.
I carry emergency drugs for the mother and resuscitation equipment for the rare occasions when the baby needs it at birth.
I would generally stay with you for up to 4 hours after the birth, checking both mother and baby regularly and helping with breastfeeding, tidying up, helping the mother to shower and bath and usually leaving once mother and baby are comfortable and settled in bed. After birth, I am still only a telephone call away.
